Description:   Opened: 2007-05-30 07:09 0000
When running firefox-bin or boincmgr (i.e. the 32-bit boinc binary from the
official boinc download site) characters are not always properly displayed.
When ran in a terminal window the apps complain about the following missing
libs:

/usr/lib32/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/loaders/libpixbufloader-xpm.so
/usr/lib32/pango/1.5.0/modules/pango-basic-fc.so

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
firefox-bin:
1. start firefox-bin from the CLI
2. goto to the gentoo bugzilla
3. select an existing bug
4. goto create new attachment
5 [details]. hit the button [Browse...]
6. see the messages in the terminal window 

boincmgr:
1. download http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_${PV}_i686-pc-linux-gnu.sh
2. unpack the downloaded file (sh boinc_${PV}_i686-pc-linux-gnu.sh)
3. run boincmgr form the CLI
4. see the messages in the terminal window
Actual Results:  
firefox-bin:
5. characters in the pop-up window are not readable
6. messages about missing libraries

boincmgr:
3. characters are not readable in the application window
4. messages about missing libraries

Expected Results:  
firefox-bin:
5. characters in the pop-up window are readable
6. no messages

boincmgr:
3. characters are readable in the application window
4. no messages

Damnit, I just hate the jump-on-next-open-bug-in-the-list feature in Bugzilla;
this should have been Bug 174915, not this one.

These are definitely installed; you can check yourself if you ls those dirs.
Looks like you didn't run etc-update properly after upgrading.

I was able to fix it using the forums. It turned out that /usr/lib32/pango and
/usr/lib32/gtk-2.0 symlinked to soem /emul/... dir. I removed those broken
symlinks and re-emerged emul-linux-x86-gtk, which fixed the problem.
