As per URL (2.0beta news) hteditor is really cool and can do x86_64, ppc64 and
arm assembly.

if you so desire please keyword as follows:
amd64 stable - app-editors/hteditor-2.0
~ppc64 unstable - app-editors/hteditor-2.0.3
~arm unstable - app-editors/hteditor-2.0.3

Test plan.

its an executable editor so treat it as such:
cp /bin/ls /tmp
/usr/bin/ht /tmp/ls
F6 - select program header
select program header offset
F4 (edit) - change offset to a slightly different value
F6 - select elf image
F4 (edit) - enter arbitary hex and show what a good assembler programmer you
are.
F2 save
F10 exit

run /tmp/ls and admire your reworked masterpiece :-)

It would be cool to get this stable on x86, too. I don't really like
to maintain the 0.9.x and 2.0 releases in parallel and, as far as I
can tell, the 2.0 releases have no regressions compared to the 0.9.x
releases.
----

please x86 stabilise 2.0 so I can punt the 0.9* series.

------- Comment #3 From Daniel Black 2007-04-20 23:23:01 0000 -------
better include the ppc folks in a stable request so I can truely punt 0.9*.
ppc - stable request for hteditor-2.0.

------- Comment #4 From Markus Rothe 2007-04-21 08:35:15 0000 -------

I've send upstream a message about this issue. let's wait and see if he can fix
it.

Fixed loading of ppc64 ELFs in 2.0.4. Thanks for finding this.

------- Comment #7 From Daniel Black 2007-04-21 22:22:03 0000 -------
added 2.0.4 for ppc64 pleasureing.

------- Comment #8 From Markus Rothe 2007-04-22 07:21:24 0000 -------
2.0.4 still segfaults on ppc64. waiting for upstream.

Sebastian released 2.0.5 which now runs perfect on ppc64. I've done the version
bump and added ~ppc64. will go stable in ~30 days.
