Description Marius van Wyk 2007-04-11 21:53:48 UTC
Related to the following bug:

http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=171797

is a problem that 2.9.7 still seems to fail to start.

also see discussion of this problem here:

http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-551495-start-0.html
Comment 1 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-04-11 21:56:15 UTC
Uhm? What's exactly related to the security bug? Please, post the actual errors, emerge --info and reopen. The bug is largely unrelated and referring to forums is a waste of time.

Thanks.
Comment 2 Marius van Wyk 2007-04-11 22:00:41 UTC
A waste of time?

you mean like me actually bothering to report a bug.

No, I mean that you should include all relevant information *on the bug*, instead of referring to forums or whatnot. Noone can search forums.g.o. for errors via bugzilla.

Resolution: flush incorrect version of Zope from poirtage and get fixed one from Zope.
Comment 5 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-04-11 22:14:51 UTC
Well, reopen once you've decided to post something useful as opposed to refusing to provide any relevant information.

INVALID meanwhile.
Comment 6 Marius van Wyk 2007-04-11 22:17:59 UTC
Sorry no time to read chapters in Gentoo bug reporting and do write-ups.

This will have to remain unsolved in Gentoo then.

Thanks for your effort.

* The core error is essentially that trying to start zope-2.9.7 doesn't work. It seems to attempt to run:

/usr/lib/zope-2.9.7/lib/python/Zope2/Startup/run.py -C
    /var/lib/zope/zope-base/etc/zope.conf

Repeatedly, and eventually give up. Digging a bit, the python traceback seems to be:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "<string>", line 1, in ?
  File "/usr/lib/zope-2.9.7/lib/python/Zope2/__init__.py", line 51, in app
    startup()
  File "/usr/lib/zope-2.9.7/lib/python/Zope2/__init__.py", line 46, in startup
    from Zope2.App.startup import startup as _startup
  File "/usr/lib/zope-2.9.7/lib/python/Zope2/App/startup.py", line 33, in ?
    import OFS.Application
  File "/usr/lib/zope-2.9.7/lib/python/OFS/Application.py", line 28, in ?
    from App.ApplicationManager import ApplicationManager
  File "/usr/lib/zope-2.9.7/lib/python/App/ApplicationManager.py", line 275, in ?
    class ApplicationManager(Folder,CacheManager):
  File "/usr/lib/zope-2.9.7/lib/python/App/ApplicationManager.py", line 391, in ApplicationManager
    @postonly
  File "/usr/lib/zope-2.9.7/lib/python/AccessControl/requestmethod.py", line 37, in postonly
    raise ValueError('No REQUEST parameter in callable signature')
ValueError: No REQUEST parameter in callable signature

...which I am not savvy enough to get the meaning of.

* weird secondary thing: zope-3.3.0 adds itself inexplicably to the emerge list when trying to emerge plone, even though the deps indicated in the plone ebuild explicitly state =zope-2.9.*. This is new in the last 48 hours. Also, zope-3.3.0 doesn't work with zope-config, but that's another issue.

* emerge --info:

Anyway, I'll reopen now.

PS: Marius, you're being an ass. You aren't God's gift to Gentoo just because you filed an empty bug report. People need *information* with which to fix bugs in reasonable time, moreso in the open source community where peoples' time is largely volunteered. Nobody really likes writing this information, but it is important to have it, and Jakub can't really get it for himself, not being the person actually experiencing the bug.

If you want room service, go pay for it.

Mark, if this isn't the same as Bug 174225, please file a _new_ bug, so that other people don't have to read the unrelated rants. :)
Comment 9 Mark McKenna 2007-04-14 18:48:50 UTC
Apparently they are the same. And submitted by the same person. That's pretty weird.

Sorry.
