The new pbbuttonsd-0.8.0 supports the Macbooks and also features an improved
algorithm for backlight and keyboard illumination control.  For what is worth,
I have hacked an ebuild that pulls this version, which is available from

and is more precisely at

I have introduced a new use flag (macbook) with obvious meaning.  Enabling the
doc flag now builds the doxygen documentation.  libsmbios is now a dependency
of pbbuttonsd, which does not exist in the Portage tree but has an ebuild
available in this overlay:

http://pico.is.free.fr/pommed-overlay.tar.bz2

I would argue that this will all be nice to have, and that the ebuild should
make its way into the main tree.
