Description:   Opened: 2007-02-02 22:38 0000
With guile-1.8-1-r1 installed, gnucash-2.0.4-r1 fails to emerge. First error
message is

Unable to find the g-wrap standard module, a.k.a. guile-g-wrap.
You won't be able to run GnuCash without it!

When trying to run gnucash-2.0.4 with guile-1.8-1-r1 I get

gnucash-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libguile.so.12: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory

With guile-1.6.8, both gnucash-2.0.4-r1 and gnucash-2.0.4 work just fine.

I am on an amd64 system with use flags for networking and regex off.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.See above.
2.

John, please re-emerge g-wrap.

------- Comment #4 From John J. Aylward 2007-02-06 19:24:41 0000 -------
while that worked, I'm not sure why... the reason I was rebuilding gnucash is
because it was part of a revdep-rebuild
the emerge it came up with was:
emerge --oneshot =dev-libs/g-wrap-1.9.6-r1 =app-office/gnucash-2.0.4-r1

for the g-wrap rebuild I had to rebuild guile 1.8.1-r1 with the use flas listed
in my packages.use portion of my previous comment #2

once I did that g-wrap emerge properly then went onto gnucash, which promptly
failed.

------- Comment #5 From Josh Sled 2007-02-07 23:28:35 0000 -------
(In reply to comment #4)
> once I did that g-wrap emerge properly then went onto gnucash, which promptly

How'd it fail? If it complained about g-wrap like so:

checking for (g-wrap) guile module... configure: error:

Cannot find the (g-wrap) guile module.
Are you sure you have g-wrap compile-time environment installed?
       See http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=347680

Try emerging g-wrap again (yes, again) and then trying the gnucash emerge
again.

This may be a duplicate, but the recent 2006-02-20) app-office/gnucash-2.0.5
requires dev-scheme/guile-1.8.1-r1 and this combination doesn't work -- at
least on my system. It seems the gnucash people are not aware of this guile
problem. How do they find out for a bug that is not files with gnucash in the
title?

------- Comment #8 From Marijn Schouten 2007-02-28 14:13:02 0000 -------
they find out by being CC'ed on the bug, which they, namely seemant, already
are.

gnucash-2.0.4 and guile-1.6.8 worked for me.

phoenix ~ # eix -cIr "(guile|gnucash)"
[I] app-office/gnucash (2.0.502/21/2007): A personal finance manager.
[I] dev-scheme/guile (1.8.1-r1(12)02/07/2007): Scheme interpreter

Works for me. I don't know what "this guile problem" is. Most g-wrap
problems I've seen have been Bug#163647.

I'd want the config.log output from the failing g-wrap check to see what the
actual error is to diagnoes.
