rc1 fails because BLUV 1.6 has been replaced by 1.7:
rc1 says:
BLUV=1.6
gtk? ( mirror://mplayer/Skin/Blue-${BLUV}.tar.bz2 )

But 1.6 has been replace by 1.7 so you get this download error:

Bug 152907 is marked as "resolved upstream" but it still prevents me from
building media-video/mplayer-1.0_rc1.  (I can't add it to the depends list.)

All done here, apparently.
