I had both gparted-0.3.1 and gtkmm-2.8.3 installed on my system, and everything worked fine. Today, after upgrading gtkmm to version 2.10.2, I did a revdep-rebuild as usual. This is its output: Collecting system binaries and libraries... done. (/root/.revdep-rebuild.1_files) Collecting complete LD_LIBRARY_PATH... done. (/root/.revdep-rebuild.2_ldpath) Checking dynamic linking consistency... broken /usr/bin/gparted (requires libatkmm-1.6.so.1) done. (/root/.revdep-rebuild.3_rebuild) Assigning files to ebuilds... done. (/root/.revdep-rebuild.4_ebuilds) Evaluating package order... done. (/root/.revdep-rebuild.5_order) All prepared. Starting rebuild... emerge --oneshot -p =sys-block/gparted-0.3.1 These are the packages that would be merged, in order: Calculating dependencies... done! [ebuild R ] sys-block/gparted-0.3.1 Then I re-emerged gparted as revdep-rebuild suggested, but the following error arose while running the configure script: checking for GTKMM... configure: error: Package requirements (gtkmm-2.4 > 2.8 ) were not met: Package atkmm-1.6 was not found in the pkg-config search path. Perhaps you should add the directory containing `atkmm-1.6.pc' to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable Package 'atkmm-1.6', required by 'gtkmm', not found Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you installed software in a non-standard prefix. Alternatively, you may set the environment variables GTKMM_CFLAGS and GTKMM_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man page for more details. !!!
