Description dominik.thiel 2003-01-30 13:10:48 UTC
I recently updated to KDE 3.1 / Qt 3.1.0-r2.
Now some fonts seem to be broken under KDE:

Charter, Clearlyu, Fixed, Helvetica, Lucida, New Century Schoolbook, Terminal, Times

Instead of their characters, only boxes are displayes. This is especially
annoying as Helvetica is the Qt-Standard font.
qtconfig displays those fonts as it should, only KDE is unable to do so. All
other fonts work fine.

Before the update, with Qt-3.1.0-r1 and KDE-3.1_rc5 everything ran fine, the
only USE-Flag I changed in between was adding "cups" which affects the Qt-build.

output of emerge info:

Hmmm,
I think, I found a duplicate of this, sorry.
#13201

My KDE is according to "ldd kdesktop" indeed linked against the X11-Freetype. Anyone found a solution already?

What revision of xfree do you have? Azarah said in bug #5305 this should be fixed in
xfree-4.2.1-r2.
Comment 3 dominik.thiel 2003-02-03 14:23:13 UTC
I have xfree-4.2.1-r2 installed, and I had it installed before emerging kde-3.1.
What do you suggest ?
The order of merging was:
xfree-4.2.1-r2
qt-3.0.5
kde-3.1_rc5
xfree-4.2.1-r2 (because of missing "voodoo3"-USE-flag)
qt-3.1.0-r2
kde-3.1
Comment 4 dominik.thiel 2003-02-10 09:32:05 UTC
Just updated to xfree-4.2.99.4
Now the fonts are working again
Comment 5 Hannes Mehnert (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-02-12 07:27:18 UTC
this seems to be a duplicate of #13472, please emerge (new, masked)
freetype and fontconfig.
Comment 6 Francisco León 2003-04-06 21:36:45 UTC
