I recently updated to ipw3945 v1.1.0 and the new module freeze the kernel
All works fine with 1.0.5...

Sadly I have no entry for that in syslog, buffers hadn't been flushed. But I
was watching at dmesg an no error was shown...

Are you using by any chance ieee80211-1.1.14-r1 ?

Sorry, it seems that the problem comes from ieee80211, upgrading to 1.1.15
without modifying ipw3945 freeze the kernel too
