Xfce 4.3.99.1 (RC1) has been released, please commit ebuilds. (Oh also it would be nice to add thunar plugins.. but that should be another bug report..)

Created attachment 98044 [details] XFCE 4.4 RC1 Ebuilds (tar.bz2) Sorry for the tar, but this are to many files. Hope this helps someone. Included ebuilds: * XFCE 4.4 RC1 (of course, including: thunar, xarchiver) * xfce4-dev-tools * xfmedia (SVN)

Is this coming soon? I've got a week off from work and would *love* to test this!!
Created attachment 100360 [details] proposed new eclass The new ebuilds should point to http://www.xfce.org/archive/xfce-4.3.99.1/src/ so the existing eclass/xfce44.eclass needs to be updated. I've added an $XFCE_RC_VERSION and $THUNAR_RC_VERSION.
As noted by the XFCE folks, the transition from 4.2 beta 1 to 4.2 RC 1 has included a variety of bug fixes and feature enhancements. Please revise the eclass and add the ebuilds to the portage tree. Thanks!
xfce 4.4 RC2 (4.3.99.2) is out.
Please update the summary ;-) I really don't understand why beta1/2 is inside the portage-tree and RC1/2 is not. Perhaps putting both (beta and RC) into the XFCE-Overlay would be fine? Otherwise both should be available inside the official tree IMHO. The only ugly thing with these ebuild currently is XFCE(_FOO)?_VERSION. Perhaps someone could think of a nicer way to do this?
Created attachment 101552 [details] XFCE 4.4 RC2 Ebuilds (tar.bz2) Tar, like last time...many files ;-) Included ebuilds (like RC1): * XFCE 4.4 RC2 (of course, including: thunar, xarchiver) * xfce4-dev-tools * xfmedia (SVN)
Thanks for your work on ebuilds. They are working fine for me (amd64).
From the RC1 changelog [http://www.xfce.org/release_notes/4.4rc1_changelog.html] Session Manager (xfce4-session) * Add support for HAL to shutdown/reboot the computer. Must be enabled explicitly using --with-shutdown-style=hal to configure (Bug #2046). there is no "hal" USE flag in xfce4-session,though. From the RC2 changelog [http://www.xfce.org/release_notes/4.4rc2_changelog.html] Desktop Manager (xfdesktop) * Use d-bus bindings directly for all interaction with d-bus to avoid xfdesktop's UI freezing while waiting for responses. d-bus is now required at compile time for file icons However, dbus is not listed among the requirements of xfdesktop. From the thunar changelog [http://thunar.xfce.org/news.html] Rubberband Selection With the addition of rubberband selection to GtkTreeView in GTK+ 2.10 it is finally possible to use rubberband selection in the Detailed List View. I don't get it. Does it mean that thunar requires GTK+ 2.10,or that it takes advantage from it but it's not required, and/or that thunar needs to be recompiled to take advantage from a GTK+ upgrade?
(In reply to comment #12) > From the RC1 changelog > [... many missing deps ...] This is just a bump, nothing official...so, please don't expect them to be complete. If I have enough spare time I might fix this... > From the thunar changelog [http://thunar.xfce.org/news.html] > [...] > I don't get it. Does it mean that thunar requires GTK+ 2.10,or that it takes > advantage from it but it's not required, and/or that thunar needs to be > recompiled to take advantage from a GTK+ upgrade? AFAIK GTK+ 2.10 is optional (GTK+ 2.8 here and thunar works). I don't know whether Thunar needs to be recompiled.
Created attachment 102038 [details] thunar ebuild thunar doesn't require gtk-doc to run correctly. also orbit is a dependency only required when using the gnome-thumbnailer.
Created attachment 102039 [details] xfce4-panel ebuild XFCE4-panel doesn't need gtk-doc either.
Created attachment 102040 [details] libxfcegui4 libxfcegui4 doesn't require gtk-doc. Didn't check the xfce-extra stuff for gtk-doc depandancies, but didn't show up in my emerge -avuDN xfce4. also, I had to unmask them all, so i'll paste my package.unmask for whoever wants a quick and dirty way to paste this into their packages.unmask. xfce-base/libxfce4mcs xfce-base/libxfce4util xfce-base/libxfcegui4 xfce-base/orage xfce-base/thunar xfce-base/xfce4 xfce-base/xfce4-panel xfce-base/xfce4-session xfce-base/xfce-mcs-manager xfce-base/xfce-mcs-plugins xfce-base/xfce-utils xfce-base/xfdesktop xfce-base/xfprint xfce-base/xfwm4 xfce-extra/exo xfce-extra/mousepad xfce-extra/terminal xfce-extra/xarchiver xfce-extra/xfce4-appfinder xfce-extra/xfce4-dev-tools xfce-extra/xfce4-icon-theme xfce-extra/xfce4-mixer xfce-extra/xfmedia xfce-extra/xfwm4-themes x11-themes/gtk-engines-xfce
Simple line to create all digest in portage overlay (/usr/local/portage) after untaring and downloading new ebuild version (thunar, xfce-panel, libxfcegui4): # cd /usr/local/portage # tar tjf xfce-4.4_rc2.tar.bz2 |grep ebuild |xargs -I{} ebuild {} digest Just my two cents, David
RC2 is in the tree now, give it a few hours to hit your local rsync mirror. Node and Guido Imperiale, I'd like to look at your suggested changes. Could you please file separate bugs for them? Thanks.
