I propose we give the bugday project a $50/month allowance ($600/year) from the CafePress store to use towards bugday incentives/rewards as they see fit. This could be things like t-shirts for the top bug squashers, etc. (I would be up for making a custom t-shirt for bugday). Items sent out via this method would be paid for out of our CafePress commission, which is currently just collecting and not accounted for in our quarterly notices (since it is not cash in hand). I believe we can also cut ourselves discounts in this way, at least on the custom gear mentioned above. I've mentioned this briefly to people before, and after meeting and talking with tannewt yesterday I think it is time to give bugday a boost. I want to leave this as open to their disgression as we can, since it is not our place to dictate exactly who and what the money would do, but on the other hand I add a clause that we may stop funding if there become problems. Thoughts? votes?
Kinda like bounties, I like it.
I like the idea of bounties, but not really for "... as they see fit". Not that I think it would be that easy to abuse the system (I write a document with lots of errors, have several friends and colleagues post the issues on it and I resolve them all so I have a 20+ bughit in a single update) because I'm sure that the organising party would make sure that the bounties are well served. But I rather see this used for items like a top-20 feature request.

I say "as they see fit" to give them the flexibility of distribution. They have some good ideas for bugday (bug votes, then collecting those votes as "points"), but I do not think that system is already in place yet, so it would not fit for this as a reward system. Keep in mind that whatever method is used, there will be the chance for abuse. If the abuse is a constant thing and the bugday people can not work to prevent it, then we cancel the incentives. > But I rather see this used for items like a top-20 feature request. Why not do both? We have the resources.. Come up with a proposal. ;)
Works for me. I'm not a big fan of "bounties", but rewarding people with a T-shirt or stickers seems much more reasonable to me.
Closed due to age and changes in bugday team as discussed at recent trustee meetings If the current bugday team want to revive this idea, they can reopen the bug.
