I'm running a stable x86 Gentoo system here.
When trying to switch to jde-mode in gnu emacs, I get this error message:
JDEE requires a version fo CEDET between 1.0beta2 and 1.0 (found 1.0pre3)

The error seems to come from /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/jde/lisp/jde.el, where
jde-earlier-versionp is defined to handle beta but not pre.
