Description Joe Wreschnig 2006-03-01 20:49:19 UTC
Please remove the "Quod Libet" package from your distribution. I am sick of getting bug reports from Gentoo users running ridiculously old versions that do not work on GTK 2.8.

Furthermore, I'd prefer it not be added again unless someone is going to actively maintain it, which includes touching base with upstream, i.e. me, regularly.

This is not a duplicate. The package is still useless. The ebuilds in the other bug are still broken.

If you're not going to maintain the package, please remove it. A dozen broken ebuilds in a bug tracker, rather than in the distribution itself, does not constitute maintenance.

Thanks for nice and friendly upstream contact, this was indeed marked as a duplicate of incorrect bug. I'll rectify it immediately. ;)

Why not submit a fixed one?

Because I don't use Gentoo. Because I'm not asking for a fixed ebuild. I'm asking for a package that doesn't work, that is causing invalid upstream bug reports, and is frustrating your users, to be removed.

Why don't you maintain the software in your own distribution?

We are not removing packages that are still maintained upstream just because they are temporarily missing an active maintainer in Gentoo, sorry. Since you are lacking any constructive suggestions, I'm marking this bug as INVALID.

Quod Libet 0.8 and 0.11 are not maintained upstream. So, please remove them. Additionally, a year is hardly "temporarily".

I cannot believe you would prefer to have broken software in your distribution for an indefinitely long amount of time than remove it until someone fixes it.

My constructive suggestion is "remove Quod Libet." The proper resolution would be WONTFIX, since my request is straightfoward and my assumptions are accurate. You just don't want to do it.

Read my comment on Bug 101619. If you don't want to help, then just move on.
