Note that this doesn't compile without patch from bug #120143 on gcc 3.4.

Also, I emerged this on an amd64 system (see bug #120143 comment #3), so if you
could add an ~amd64 keyword as well, that would be lovely. Do tell me if I
should take this to a new bug though.
