Description:   Opened: 2005-12-21 16:09 0000
While trying to install ut2004, it wants to install
games-fps/ut2004-bonuspack-ece-1 . Unfortunately after trying again and again
on 3dgamers mirrors (why that is I don't know, why not have it on gentoo
mirrors), I get error after error after error. from 403's to 404's to moved to
bad gateway etc etc etc. This is blocking completion of the ut2004 merge.

I later had multiple problems getting various patches and what not for the same
reasons. It would be much nicer if we had these files on our mirrors. I'm
having to hunt for these things manually, it is quite irritating.

------- Comment #2 From Eric Bozikian 2005-12-24 18:42:59 0000 -------
Ya, I can't emerge ut2004 because of this. Apparently this bonus pack has been
dropeed in favour of the megapack, since the megapack contains the ECE content.

------- Comment #3 From Sonic Lux 2006-01-09 04:17:40 0000 -------
All the mirrors delete the ece pack from their mirrors :-(
Download the file and than put it into /usr/portage/distfiles/
You can download it from my server:
http://sonic-lux.de/data/mirror/ut2004/ut2004-ECEBonusPack.tar.bz2

I quickly edit the ebuild and put any mirrors into where we can download the
ece again.

Are those (icculus, etc) using the lowercase or mixed-case form?

(By the way, I really hate when people do that... heh)

I'm also considering using the megapack download to pull the ECE files from...

It would basically be like this:

ut2004-data
ut2004-bonuspack-ece (distfiles is megapack)
ut2004-bonuspack-mega
ut2004

I now have a good megapack ebuild thanks to Allen Brooker in bug #116528 to use
as a basis, so all I need is to find some time to make an "ece" ebuild that
uses the megapack as distfiles. I think I would prefer this for the future,
since it would reduce the amount of downloading needed, since the megapack
already includes the ECE bonuspack.

The mixed-case form, as in the attached ebuild.

> I'm also considering using the megapack download to pull the ECE files from...

I recommend calling the megapack ECE-2 :)
I'd expect further cumulative compilation packs to be released, each with
ever-more-impressive-sounding names.

Here is an "ece" ebuild that uses the megapack as distfiles. It also fixes the
file collisions with ut2004-3369-r*.

Tidied the use of quotes.

I apologize that this is still open. My primary dev box is offline right now
and I am working on the 2006.0 release. As soon as I get some free time I will
definitely get this updated in the tree.

Confirmed. Can not download; file seems to have changed to
ut2004megapack-linux.tar.bz2 197MB-ish

Could you please give us the mirror with which the problem is occuring? A paste
of text file containing the output would be good. I just checked icculus.org
and it's still showing a 194MB file, which is what I still have in my downloads
folder from last year.

There's 2 possibilities here:
1) Your download is corrupt. Delete it from distfiles and try again.
2) One of the mirrors has a corrupt / repackaged file and as such doesn't match
up with the others. If this is the case we need to find out which one so that
either the admin can be alerted or the mirror can be removed.

Try reading the entire bug in future please! The dropping of the ece bonus pack
from mirrors is what this entire bug is about and what the attached ebuild(s)
(latest version) solve.

This ebuild has been added now... Thanks for putting in all of the hard work on
this one.
