Description:   Opened: 2005-10-30 09:39 0000 
The postgres user doesn't have $PGDATA (or other environment variables) set by
default.  This constitutes a big foot gun.  It also makes it hard to fix the
startup script, which is pretty braindead.  Bug report follows on this.
