hi all! i have been trying to connect to my mobile phone (samsung e720) via bluetooth. installation went well, but at first i had pairing issues that essentially boiled down to doing a ldd against hcid. it mentioned something about libdbus, so i tried to rebuild bluez-utils without dbus support, which now works perfectly. i noticed that there are new versions of bluez-utils around (2.20 and 2.21), that i did not test yet against dbus. if needed, i would create a new ebuild myself for the current version and test it against dbus. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. install dbus-0.36.2, bluez-utils-2.19 w/ dbus use flag enabled 2. run the bluetooth script from /etc/init.d 3. pair your bt device, or try file transfers, or service discovery Actual Results: watch the hcid die shortly after pairing or service browsing Expected Results: hcid not crashing Portage 2.0.51.22-r3 (default-linux/x86/2005.1, gcc-3.4.4, glibc-2.3.5-r2, 2.6.13-gentoo-r3 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.13-gentoo-r3 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1.60GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.6.13 ccache version 2.3 [enabled] dev-lang/python: 2.4.1-r1 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.12 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r10 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.18-r1 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium-m -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium-m -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig ccache distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://linux.rz.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/download/gentoo-mirror" LANG="en_US.UTF-8" LC_ALL="en_US.UTF-8" LINGUAS="de" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X a52 acl acpi alsa arts avi bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts bluetooth bzip2 cdr crypt cups curl dbus divx4linux dlloader dri dvd dvdr dvdread eds emboss encode ffmpeg firefox flac foomaticdb fortran gd gdbm gif gimpprint glitz gnome gphoto2 gstreamer gtk gtk2 gtkhtml hal howl ieee1394 imlib ipv6 java jikes jpeg kde kdeenablefinal libg++ libwww mad mikmod mmx mono mp3 mpeg ncurses nls nptl offensive ogg oggvorbis opengl oss pam pda pdflib perl png python qt quicktime readline samba sasl sdl spell sqlite sse ssl subversion svg tcpd theora threads tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts unicode vidix vorbis wifi win32codecs wmf xine xinerama xml2 xprint xv xvid zeroconf zlib linguas_de userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LDFLAGS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY
Should be fixed in net-wireless/bluez-utils-2.21. Thank you for reporting this.
