I never do `rm -f /usr/portage/distfiles'. I find very useful having the sources of the installed packages ihandy as it avoids downloading everything over andagain when updating to new releases of the same version, or when installing Gentoo on another system. But after some time that directory gets too fat and is too boring to eliminate the deprecated packages by hand so I've made a script to automate this. You can see it attached. I've announced on gentoo-dev and receive positive feedback (as well as corrections) from many users which though it would be a nice addition to gentoolkit. (I would put a link to the thread on the mailing-list archives, but it seems that there isn't one.. :-/ ). I'm attaching the script, but the latest version can always be found on the above URL. I hope you also find it an usefull addition to the portage system.

I've added this to the Gentookit CVS module. It will become part of Gentookit with the next release, slated for release later this month. I'm closing this bug, as it's now in the pipeline.
Sorry, Karl, but where is it!? You marked the bug as fixed but I can't find the script neither in CVS nor in any of the gentoolkit releases since...

I tried it out with a recent Portage snapshot and couldn't find anything as well... Karl, did this already went into the official Portage snapshot and if not, when will this happen? Thanks! :-)
Hello, anyone out there? ;-)
