Description:   Opened: 2002-11-11 18:16 0000
Just a few minutes ago i tried emerging netscape-flash. And i got this:
!!! install_flash_player_6_linux.tar.gz is corrupt or incomplete.
>>> our recorded digest: 794a465e78c8c752589a938f2ba1ff21
>>>  your file's digest: 720dc8101cc58d99741ecee9e2c13040

I tried one or two times and i got to the conclusion (because the tar was ok and
because i tried from 2-3 connections) that macromedia probably changed the file
(either that or the file there is trojaned).

I deleted the local digest, created and tried installing:

>>> Install netscape-flash-6.0b into /var/tmp/portage/netscape-flash-6.0b/image/
category net-www
install: cannot stat `libflashplayer.so': No such file or directory
install: cannot stat `flashplayer.xpt': No such file or directory
strip:

I tried opening the tar.gz and looking at the ebuild and i see that probably
macromedia changed the archive. Where there was
S=${WORKDIR}/flashplayer_installer chould now be
S=${WORKDIR}/install_flash_player_6_linux . Even with these two changes mozilla
does not detect the plugin, i am using version 1.0.1-r2 . I also have Acrobat
Reader installed and the Acrobat Reader pluggin gets detected ok.

Take 'gtk2' out of your USE, and remerge mozilla. Netscape flash is not my
domain, reassigning.

Tried adding -gtk2 to the use vars and rebuild mozilla with no help. I tried
emerging old flash 5 and it works. The problem is really with flash6.

Ok, here's what we're going to do:

1) Seemant is contacting Macromedia to get permission to mirror their files (we
currently do that, but we're not certain if it's perfectly okay).
2) If we're allowed to do that, we'll version tag the tarball, and set
SRC_URI="mirror://gentoo/netscape-flash-${PV}-<datestamp>.tar.gz" or something
like that.
3) In the interim, I suggest you use the tarball on our mirrors, because that
works.

Karltk, now we need to worry about the click-wrap license, but there's a
possible solution here: http://sluglug.ucsc.edu/macromedia/rpmsource/setup

I leave it to you to implement..

I can't get this done anytime soon, I'm afraid.

is this still an issue, gustavo?
