checking for GTKHTML_LIBS...
configure: error: Package requirements (libgtkhtml-3.8) were not met.
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

the ebuild only asks for >=gnome-extra/libgtkhtml-3.7 which should be changed to 3.8

libgtkhtml-3.8 is going to be added soon, however, the real dependency is for
libgtkhtml-3.7, which provides libgtkhtml-3.8.pc. This is probably a local
problem on your machine.

Please check that you have >=libgtkhtml-3.7 correctly installed, and paste the
complete output from emerge, as well as the output from "emerge --info".

I actually didn't even try to install it I just ran ./configure to see if all
dependencies are met. So this is ebuild bug but just a suggestion to make the
dependency 3.8 because many people already have a libgtkhtml mess on their
computers:

emerge unmerge libgtkhtml -pv

>>> These are the packages that I would unmerge:

 gnome-extra/libgtkhtml
    selected: 2.6.3 3.0.10-r1 3.2.5 3.6.2
   protected: none
     omitted: none

I see. Thanks for your desire to help, but please avoid opening bug reports if
you're not sure there is actually a problem.

Regarding libgtkhtml versions, those you have installed are not a "mess". They
are installed using different SLOTs and that mechanism is used for a good reason.
