freetype 2.1.10 just released, which have a brand new feature called autofit to
solve cjk font problem.

It's very important to our CJK user, but there is no ebuild for freetype-2.1.10.

When will this new baby come to portage?

I am wondering how important it is to CJK users. I've upgrade it, but saw no
difference with previous versions

It's been added.

Afaik the changes are stability focused, so I doubt any major drawing changes
have been added.
