I've been using 2.510 on x86 (both the ebuild and from source) for several
months.  I haven't tested every possible function (cfitsio includes the kitchen
sink) but typical operations (reading/writing fits tables, etc.) have functioned
without difficulty.

It's got a week to go in ~x86, unless any new bugs are reported...  You can't 
rush these things you know :)

Okay, tested and bumped stable on x86, sparc, and ppc.  Enjoy...
