Where did you find it? http://mikachan.sourceforge.jp/ and
http://sourceforge.jp/projects/mikachan/files/
say 8.9 is the latest. Links to the version 9.1
tarballs would be appreciated.

(Hopefully anybody watching this bug will be CC'ed...)

This version bump should have never happened. Linux tools do not use TTC files.
There are working TTC decompressors, but they are not exactly common nor popular/in wide use.

I've opened another bug (couldn't find this one at first) ( bug# 148097 ) to get this reverted and get mikachan-font-9.1 our of the tree.

9.1 was NOT a Linux update, it is unnecessary and breaks your ability to use the fonts in the package.

We need to get 9.1 kicked out and 8.9-r1 should be the latest version.

There was a reason why http://sourceforge.jp/projects/mikachan/files/ doesn't list 9.1
