When starting muine it is exiting with the following output:
"Failed to initialize the audio backend:
Could not find the volume element in the GstPlay pipeline

Exiting..."

I'd tried to remerge all gst-plugins-* specified in the dependency list, remerged gstreamer and gst-pluings and after all muine. But nothing changed.

------- Comment #1 From Matt MacLeod 2005-03-12 16:33:10 0000 -------
I can confirm this on Gnome 2.10, with Muine manually patched to compile as per
bug 83419.

please do:

gst-inspect-0.8 volume

------- Comment #3 From Zaheer Abbas Merali (RETIRED) 2005-03-13 03:35:37 0000 -------
Ignore that, I have just been informed that muine 0.6.x assumes that pipeline
elements in libgstplay are named in a certain way, which should not have been
assumed. Recent gst-plugins (0.8.7 and later), have changed libgstplay to work
better but has made it so that muine 0.6.x does not work.

So the options are:

i) remove gstreamer support from muine 0.6.x ebuild
ii) patch muine 0.6.x to fix this issue
iii) expedite muine 0.8.x into portage

------- Comment #4 From Lars Strojny 2005-03-13 06:24:30 0000 -------
I think option one isn't really an opportunity but the second or third idea
would be ok. Any people around there who can help with this?

------- Comment #5 From Lars Strojny 2005-03-13 06:32:29 0000 -------
Bringing muine-0.8.2 to work would be quite difficult, because it needs
mono-cvs and gtk-sharp-2.0 >= 1.9.1, gnome-sharp-2.0 >= 1.9.1, glade-sharp-2.0
>= 1.9.1        , gconf-sharp-2.0 >= 1.9.1, gnome-vfs-sharp-2.0 >= 1.9.1. None
of these packages are in portage until now. So I would think, fixing this woulb
be the best solution.

------- Comment #6 From Peter Johanson (RETIRED) 2005-03-14 07:48:39 0000 -------
Dotnet herd input: I'm very hesitant to put the 0.8.x series of muine in yet,
because of its deps on the gtk-sharp 2.0 stuff. This *may* have to change soon
due to a monodevelop release, but at least for now, option #2 is what i'd
really suggest.

------- Comment #7 From Zaheer Abbas Merali (RETIRED) 2005-03-16 07:39:45 0000 -------
Ok, fixed in muine-0.6.3-r3
