I've attached an ebuild for chicken-1.89 (latest). The latest version currently available is chicken-1.22, which is ancient and does not run at all (it just segfaults). 

The people at #chicken tell me that it's so old its not even worth bothering with, so I made a new ebuild.

This package doesn't seem to depend on anything else, except the baselayout stuff, of course.

updated in portage. the new ebuild is in dev-scheme/chicken. thanks for providing 
an ebuild.
