The app-admin/mon program (currently version mon-0.99.2-r1) won't run unless
the system logger service is available and running. Attempting to do so without
the logger runing results in the following error:

unix dgram connect: Connection refused at /usr/sbin/mon line 4213
no connection to syslog available at /usr/sbin/mon line 4213

The ebuild's DEPEND clause should be amended to require virtual logger service.
In addition, the depend clause in the init script should be amended to say
"after logger".

the original gentoo maintainer for this package is no longer with us.
to sort this out faster, would you mind attaching a patch for the fixes you describe here?
