I've been meaning to complete ebuilds for these apps. Since we have user
requests, might be a good time to finish them off :)

Oops. Sorry Daniel.

Could you assign this to me?

R and octave ebuilds have been commited to cvs under category dev-lang. They
may require some fine tuning, but this will get the ball rolling. See
ChangeLogs for more info. Tried to work up a companion ebuild goctave (gnome gui
for octave) but can't seem to access the archive and there are no mirrors that I
can find :(

Two things that need work.

1. R.desktop runs with a terminal (hey at least it works) but annoying sticks
around.

2. In gnome, HTML help files aren't accessible from menu unless running
netscape. Need to see if we can patch it to use the gnome declared browser.

May need to request a new portage category dev-R, to put ebuilds for add-on
modules to R.

Testing appreciated.

Also, writing ebuilds for the various add-on modules is a good exercise.
