With previous version of the patch, links was crashing when choosing language
other than English

Oh sorry, previous version ot the patch was bad too, I hope that is last and
good one.
It is not easy to fix program with such ugly source

No, i didn't. I found this patch for older version (2.1pre12) in archive of links-list and just fixed it for the latest version of links. Anyway this patch doesn't actually solves the problem, it is only a workaround. For example, you still can't see cyrillic and european letters at the same time.
