Apparently the bootstrapped cmake (which is then used to build the real cmake) recognises -G, but does not recognise Ninja as a makefile generator. I've forced the emake generator: https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/commit/?id=ae0bc2133ce57eb679bcfae8772827def2e7eb02 The bug has been referenced in the following commit(s): https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/commit/?id=4c0566125b9cc2aa94504056aa13b50b35ddfd6d commit 4c0566125b9cc2aa94504056aa13b50b35ddfd6d Author: Andreas Sturmlechner <asturm@gentoo.org> AuthorDate: 2021-01-23 16:17:52 +0000 Commit: Andreas Sturmlechner <asturm@gentoo.org> CommitDate: 2021-01-23 17:03:03 +0000 dev-util/cmake: Update CMAKE_MAKEFILE_GENERATOR="emake" comment Build works, but RunCMake.LinkWhatYouUse test fails consistently w/ ninja.
