Description Marius Brehler 2015-10-12 12:34:48 UTC
I upgraded from spotify-1.0.14 to 1.0.15.137. Tracks are playing, but there is no sound. Collogues using KDE don't have these troubles. Other applications play sound and downgrading to 1.0.14 (thanks git), solves the problem. As a workaround it might be helpful to bring back 1.0.14.

The problem is reproducible on my desktop as well on my laptop. There is no real helpful output when starting spotify from an terminal.

Reproducible: Always

I can confirm this situation. Please bring back 1.0.14 for time being. I would love to have spotify running again.
Comment 2 zasire 2015-10-15 10:00:20 UTC
Just updated to spotify-1.0.16.104 and problem still exists.
Comment 3 Boris Faure 2015-10-15 18:33:21 UTC
I can confirm this issue under enlightenment.

I have KDE-4.14 and I have exactly the same problem.
spotify-1.0.14 was the latest version with sound for me as well.

Can you still access the deb from upstream? the only reason I removed those ebuilds was because upstream removes the debs when a new version is out. I can't add a version that can't be installed. It likely worked for you because you had it installed before and had the distfile cached locally.

As for the sound issue, could you give more info, any output or anything from the cmdline? If you don't have pulse audio then that might be it, they might be requiring it now (works with pulse in awesomewm).
Comment 6 Jakub Panachida 2015-10-21 20:44:37 UTC
Accidentally I spotify-client_1.0.14.124.g4dfabc51_amd64.deb on my hard drive.
I don't have pulse audio.
I've attached logs.

Not sure this will help, but can you move or remove ~/.cache/spotify/ so it gets regenerated? also ~/.config/spotify
Comment 9 Jakub Panachida 2015-10-21 21:19:07 UTC
Unfortunately removing ~/.cache/spotify/ and ~/.cache/spotify didn't fix the problem.

Spotify was informed about it:

not sure there is much I can do then, especially if it spans distros
Comment 11 Jakub Panachida 2015-10-21 21:28:32 UTC
Bringing back 1.0.14 seems to be enough for waiting for a Spotify's move.

http://repository.spotify.com/pool/non-free/s/spotify-client/ doesn't have that version anymore, can't bring it back and can't distribute it.
Comment 13 zasire 2015-10-28 13:19:36 UTC
People complained about this in Spotify forums and developers just announced a new version (with fix). Can you please bump to this new version?
