Are the options present in the menu? Sorry, I should have been more clear about the problem symptoms. In the plasma menu there is logout, lock, and switch user. I would expect suspend, reboot, shutdown options but do not have those. Also my suspend shortcut (Thinkpad, so Fn+F4) only causes screen lock. Also in system settings->Power Management->When laptop lid closed the only options are do nothing, shutdown, lock screen, and turn off screen. I would expect suspend to be an option here too. Does it work if you temporarily edit /usr/bin/startkde: -kwrapper5 ksmserver $KDEWM $KSMSERVEROPTION +ksmserver $KDEWM $KSMSERVEROPTION and relogin? Sorry, I can't test this because I just downgraded back to KDE4 last night. Please don't forget to report back if you tried again, in the meantime there is Plasma 5.5.1 in tree and there have been pam and caps related fixes. I'm seeing this since the update to kde-frameworks 5.18 (IIRC; it may also have been the plasma-desktop-5.5.3 update two days later). Shutdown and reboot entries are missing from the menu, and Ctrl+Alt+Shift+PgDown does nothing. The /usr/bin/startkde edit from comment #4 does not help. I followed the tips in https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/KDE/Plasma_5_upgrade#Missing_shutdown.2C_reboot.2C_suspend_and_hibernate_buttons_when_using_OpenRC. upower-pm-utils was indeed not installed and installing it brought a "Suspend" option, but "Shutdown" is still missing. I also tried using lightdm instead of sddm, as well as an empty user profile, neither made any difference. Which version of consolekit is installed? #8: I have ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~amd64", so it's consolekit-1.0.1 currently. Thanks for this hint! Downgrading to consolekit-1.0.0-r1 brings back the Shutdown/Reboot options. Updating to consolekit-1.0.1 lets them disappear again, so it wasn't just some weirdness that went away by recompiling. Looks like consolekit-1.0.1 is either buggy or at least incompatible with Plasma 5.5. That one is bug #571974. Please also check if sys-power/pm-utils is installed? (In reply to Michael Palimaka (kensington) from comment #10) > That one is bug #571974. Mark as duplicate? Not sure if you were waiting to hear back from me? My issue was clearly bug #571974 (and adding "nox11" to the pam_ck_connector.so line in /etc/pam.d/system-login as pointed out there allowed me to update to consolekit-1.0.1). As the OP hasn't commented in a while, I can't tell if there's any other, non-duplicate aspect to this bug. As far as I'm concerned, feel free to close it. re #11, I installed sys-power/pm-utils when the problem initially showed up, but it didn't make a difference. It's been installed ever since. |
