A new patch for longrun, from debian, has been released. longrun_0.9-14.diff.gz
(http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/l/longrun/longrun_0.9-14.diff.gz). This
enables thermal scaling and allows you to see what performance level you are
running at for Efficeon processors. Without this patch it is not possible to
tell if longrun is working for an Efficeon. Simply by changing the patch in the
ebuild to this new one the features are activated.

Reproducible: Always

An ebuild with updated description, release number, and ~x86

This is just a quick change of the current longrun ebuild, changed to reflect a
new version, and the description is expanded to make note that it works for
efficeon processors. I've set it to ~x86.

New patch for longrun so it works properly

This is the newest debian patch, which enables thermal limiting, and allows
longrun to work with the efficeon processor.

Added an ebuild and the newest debian patch for ease of use. Hopefully they get
added to the portage tree soon.

The patch, in plain-text

Accidently forgot to un-gzip the patch from the debian site. This is un-gzipped
and ready to go. (gzipped one is of no use)

Longrun Thermal eXtensions work great here using "-t 2". Thanks for the
ebuild!

Why hasn't this patch been applied yet? Longrun doesn't work at all on
Efficeon processors without this patch. Please!

I second comment #6. I have been using this patch for months. Longrun doesn't
work on my Sharp mm20 without it. Please apply to portage. Thanks.

A newer debian patch

This is the newest version of the debian patch (longrun_0.9-17), renamed to
replace the previous version. Currently untested. Decided against changing the
version number since it isn't in the portage tree yet.

I will take care of adding this to the tree. I already have a working ebuild in
my private overlay which can be found at http://a.bo.cx/ebuilds/. I will just do
more testing before committing this. I will commit the latest (17) patch because
by reading the Changelog it should included the features from previous versions.
I only have a Crusoe so you Efficion people feel free to test the ebuild in my
overlay, but I will be putting it to the official tree later tonigh.

I just committed a new version to the tree. Test 0.9-r2 and we will mark this
fixed if it works for you Efficeon owners.

------- Comment #12 From Scott Paul Robertson 2005-07-31 16:19:23 0000 -------
Just installed the new version, works like a charm, tried all the options, and
everything kept working. Thanks for getting this done, I've been waiting a long
time.

No problem. Marking this as fixed then. By the way you should read what man
longrun has to say about thermal scaling functionality. It seems that it might
not be that useful.
