Description Armando Di Cianno (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-06-23 14:00:35 UTC
Please find attached the ebuild for this package.

libffi offers a foreign function interface system. This is needed by languages that want to be able to dynamically figure out function parameters and pass parameters to functions at runtime.

libffi in portage is 6 years old!!!

libffi or ffcall is required by gnustep-base (see bug 54743)

The tarball needs to be moved to a gentoo mirror, as my webserver is sad. Just sad.

I suppose I wasn't clear on this: libffi was moved into the GCC tree to at least get some maintenance. It's updated rarely, but it does get updated. I need this version, which is from GCC 3.3.3, to build gnustep-base with libffi support. Newer versions do exist in the newest gcc cvs, but they don't work with gnustep-base (yet).
