i e-mailed alexy 2 months ago (~20th of april) asking about iproute2 status ... i sent him cleaned up Gentoo and Debian patches and he said he'd look into including them ... Confirmed from a chat with the new maintainer (Stephen Hemminger), that Alexey has passed over maintance rights to him now. The point is that all those patches do seem to have been assimilated into this new tree (there is a bk tree). Quite a lot of other stuff seems to have gone in as well. This looks active and looks like the real deal... Although the current latest is 2.6.7 only, the Stephen wrote that there should be a new build out this week with some extra config stuff to make it more general purpose. I would suggest waiting for this new build and then I/you/someone else can look at testing a modification of the current ebuild to use this new source. yep, i just got an e-mail back from him myself :) i'll go through our current stuff and make sure everything's been merged upstream ... anything that hasnt i'll push up to be sure passed stuff on to upstream and version bumped in portage, thanks for the heads up :) |
