Hello? BIND Maintainers? Any reaction at all? I for one would really like to see this ebuild accepted. And yet no response in over two weeks? You can do better than this, i should hope. The bind maintaintorship has been in limbo the past couple weeks. I am attempting to pick up where blkdeath@g.o left off. Give me a bit to get more acquainted with the packages and I should be getting newer ebuilds out in the wild for test. Thanks. -Jeffrey I have submitted a bind-9.3.0rc2 ebuild into portage. It is -arch. I had an odd issue trying to use -u named. It complained about an old kernel version because of threads, so I removed --enable-threads from the configure part. Please test and figure out why I needed to remove threads to drop privilages. I will get to bind-tools hopefully later today. After a quick check: For --enable-threads to work with -u I believe "default linux capabilities" may need to be added in the kernel. This should be under security options in make menuconfig. The test for the proper kernel version checks one of those capabilities. This needs to be reported upstream if it allows it to work properly on your system. Bind-9.3.0_rc4 is out since 4th of september. The 'ebuild-update' is just a filename copy. BIND 9.3.0 has now been released: ftp://ftp.isc.org/isc/bind9/9.3.0/bind-9.3.0.tar.gz. I have successfully compiled it (using the configure settings from the rc2 ebuild) and am running it on two x86 Gentoo systems. What needs to be done to get it into testing? I've read some stuff about library conflicts. I am knowledgable about BIND itself and about compiling/installing, but not so much about ebuilds etc. I would like to see 9.3.0 get into ~x86/x86; how can I help? Tx, mhjacks. 9.3.1 committed into portage thanks everyone |
