Description Tom Wijsman (TomWij) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2014-03-16 18:52:50 UTC
This bug tracks package.use.stable.mask entries for media-video/vlc; these entries were made as part of stabilization, this bug was made to make the corresponding bugs tracked by this bug instead of by the stabilization bugs.
Comment 1 Tom Wijsman (TomWij) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2014-03-16 23:05:10 UTC
These packages were added to package.use.stable.mask such that security bug #486902, security bug #499806 and security bug #504088 can proceed to stabilize.

profiles/hardened/linux/amd64/package.use.stable.mask still mask gnutls USE from vlc, any reason?

Yes, but no idea what it is. These were added I believe back then by the dev who made this bug. The versions to which they pertained are now obsolete and removed. My suggestion is if there is no apparent use for it, it's a leftover and needs deleting. There are no current ebuilds of vlc that have alpha support and It appears alpha team does not wish to keyword vlc, nor is it really needed.

working for me for stable with gnutls USE, can we sink the hardened and standard?

/var/gentoo/portage/profiles/arch/amd64/package.use.stable.mask
/var/gentoo/portage/profiles/hardened/linux/amd64/package.use.stable.mask

seems that we need to leave only opus at hardened.

I would say yes. Thanks
Comment 6 Ian Delaney (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2015-08-04 01:11:32 UTC
afaict bug 489436 no longer has any relevance or bearing on this bug. It requires only 1 keyword re-keywording and it's an unstable arch. I suggest on removal, or sinking, of those entries, this bug can be closed fixed.

Bear in mind the dev who made this and other bugs like it stepped back from active gentoo devship over a year ago.
