Bug 48868

Summary: LiveCD Kernel should have support for Marvell Yukon ethernet controller
Product: Gentoo Release Media Reporter: Jens Lorenz <IUJYPVSMACLW>

OS: Linux

Runtime testing required: ---

Description Jens Lorenz 2004-04-24 03:57:32 UTC
The ASUS K8V SE mainboard have Marvell Yukon onboard LAN. The 2004.0 LiveCD does not have the module (I haven't found it) or does not autodetect this. Network connection for a Gentoo-Install is quite important. Would be great if the next LiveCD would have support for the Marvell Yukon.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use a Asus K8V SE mainboard
2. Boot the 2004.0 LiveCD
3. Try to get the onboard ethernet controller working

Actual Results:
Ethernet controller does not work

Expected Results:
Provide a driver and/or autodetect the ethernet controller

2004.0 _has_ a driver for Marvell Yukon, it called "sk98lin". Autodetect does not work though, but will be fixed for 2004.1.

I just tried the 2004.1 LiveCD on an AMD64 Box. It does not autodetect the onboard ethernet (type Marvell Yukon).

"lspci -n" gives the following PCI-IDs
00:0a.0 Class 0200: 11ab:4320 (rev 13)
