Description Andrea 2013-09-29 21:38:02 UTC
IMPORTANT DETAIL: I have radeon hd mobility 6370m.

After the installation of the new xorg-server and dependencies, with this ati drivers I've black screen on reboot. I've tried this driver with old xorg and again black screen.
If i use new xorg with 13.4 drivers, desktop "works", but I've a lots of problems, like unable to use ati panel, unable to use firefox that report "ERROR XINERAMAIsActive .....", and unable any program that want use 3d acceleration.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. upgrade to the last xorg-server
2. install ati-drivers-13.9
3. restart system
Actual Results:
for the moment I make experiment with open sources drivers, but I receive error for "screen not found". I hope that AMD resolv drivers problem because I have same issue "black screen" with windows7

Could you attach /var/log/Xorg.0.log and kernel log (dmesg command output). Also check that you are a member of the video group.

everytimes that I start with this xorg and drivers, with black screen, I can't change screen with alt+number because I don't know why with with ati drivers 13.4 and 13.9 + kernel 3.10 after kdm is loaded (or in this case unable to) i can't switch.

I've no old kernel configuration to try with old kernel.

I'm apologise for my discutible situation.

ati-drivers 13.9 REVOKED by ati. So mask it and do downgrade.

Can you try ati-drivers-13.10_beta or 13.11_beta?
Comment 8 Andrea 2013-10-11 17:35:12 UTC
I've tried with 13.10 and 13.11 without changes of result.

If you want I can re-post the output of xorg and dmesg.

tell me which output of xorg + ati-drivers do you want.

13.9 has been removed from the tree. Please test with a recent version of ati-drivers and report back if it still fails.
