epiphany needs avahi as stated in its dependencies. If you masked avahi or used other tricks such as package.provided, this will obviously not work. Do you have avahi installed ? If yes with what cflags ? I is not a trick. I use it to prevent security issues. Yes, have, because some ebuilds hardly need it.
