I can confirm I experience the same bug I experienced the same bug, but I managed to fix it with the following steps: 1) Downgrade from dev-haskell/cabal version 1.14 to 1.10 and from dev-haskell/mtl version 2 to 1. 2) Rebuild all haskell packages. Some Googling[1,2] suggests that cabal 1.14 does not work well with GHC 6.12 and that mtl 2 causes problems with xmonad-contrib, which is why I downgraded them. An alternate approach might be to upgrade to the newest versions of GHC and xmonad, but I haven't tried this yet.
