Thanks a lot for reporting. I am not a user of pythia. Could you please explain on the status of python8 vs python6? Hi, yes, the URLs at hepforge.org seem to be a better choice: * pythia6: http://pythia6.hepforge.org/ * pythia8: http://pythia8.hepforge.org/ Pythia6 is a FORTRAN implementation while Pythia8 is in principle a reimplementation in C++ by the same authors. Both seem to be updated. There is a move in the community towards Pythia8 (along the general move from FORTRAN to C++), but there are still subtle differences between the implementations so people often end up checking their results against both implementations. Also, many additional Pythia "addons" require a specific implementation. So please keep both pythia-6.* and pythia-8.* in tree. Thanks a lot. Just to comment that http://home.thep.lu.se/~torbjorn/Pythia.html is back online ;) + 30 Nov 2012; Sébastien Fabbro <bicatali@gentoo.org> -pythia-8.1.65.ebuild, + pythia-6.4.24.ebuild, pythia-6.4.26.ebuild, pythia-8.1.45.ebuild, + pythia-8.1.70.ebuild: + Changed home page, thanks Andrew Savchenko bug #438762 + |
