I use a system without udev so I would like to be able to run this without a udev dependancy .. as it should not be needed .. for a video card when drivers are autoloaded by xorg .. as they have been up to this point. I would concurr on this -- since udev isn't a hard dep and it's just the automagic checking and the fact that most users have it installed that is the issue, it would probably be better to add IUSE="+udev" and patch the configure check to make it optional. I just did a check and it looks like way more than the latest version does udev automagics. Updated accordingly. Created attachment 323804 [details, diff]
patch to configure.ac to add a --disable-udev option
patch is fairly straight-forward, should apply clean on all relevant ebuilds.
On it. Fixed in portage and in overlay. Thanks for pushing this upstream! |
