The ebuild(s) gnome-base/gnome-light* is dep. on gdm. GDM is not QUOTE'bare minimum of libs/apps needed' and needs to be removed from the ebuild(s).
I'm a bit undecided. A login manager is pretty basic these days. Devs chime in ?
hmm, Personally I never use the login manager, preferring to have all my terminals in text-mode only. So for me, I would well scrap gdm from the -light meta
how does gdm relate to text mode only terminals (?) anyway, reasonable request. gdm got removed from gnome-light-2.6 . We'll see how it turns out.
