original error message (for those that seek help on this matter:) mail-mta/exim-2.77: mail delivery fails, Permission denied: creating lock file hitching post /var/mail/mdb.lock... /var/spool/mail is owned by mailbase (not Exim) local_delivery has group and mode commented out, because it depends on whether you want to deliver to a place like /var/mail/user, or /home/user/.maildir. The comment above that bit, explains the permissions. I'm closing this bug, because I think there is nothing to fix for Exim here. FYI: divided into two bugs: Bug#438062 (Permissions of /var/spool/mail/ fixed in mailbase-1.1), fixed Bug#438606 (exim.conf needs in section routers:localuser: group=mail), new |
