I have started adding these, masked initially, will unmask when all compatible plugins are in place. There are quite a lot of plugins to bump :/

Why was my report above marked as a duplicate of this Pacho?

That request was for a version bump to the latest upstream versions which at that time (August/2013) was 0.11.93 (which was a pre-release beta for the new API). Now the latest stable release is 1.0.1. which is being actively maintained and developed upstream.

Why are Gentoo devs concentrating on getting into the tree the 0.10.36 versions which are over 8 months old, full of bugs, and no longer being developed upstream? This doesn't make any sense to me at all!

IMHO, the devs should be concentrating their efforts towards getting 1.0.x into the tree like most other distros are doing, not working on an already stale suite that is being put out to pasture soon.

gstreamer 1.0 is needed for gnome 3.6, so it's also being worked on.

All of this is now in tree and unmasked.
