if you try to launch X with xf86-video-ati-6.14.4 and libdrm-2.4.32, you'll get an error: http://pastebin.com/5BDfemqc

I can't find any official info about xf86-video-ati requirements, the announcement of libdrm (http://www.spinics.net/lists/dri-devel/msg20585.html) has this to say:

      radeon: add TN surface support

Can't think how it can be related, but the fact is: with libdrm-2.4.32 x server fails to start.
