Description Ben Kohler gentoo-dev 2011-11-17 19:30:20 UTC
x11-misc/lightdm-1.0.6-r2, in its freshly-emerged state, cannot autologin, even after enabling the proper option(s) in /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf. I looked at a couple of bugs on launchpad & debian, and they mention that /etc/pam.d/lightdm-autologin is required, you can copy one from /etc/pam.d/gdm-autologin if you have gdm installed.

And I can confirm this, copying the file into place, and having autologin-user=foo in /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf does work for autologins.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge =x11-misc/lightdm-1.0.6-r2
2. set autologin-user=foo in /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
3. start lightdm via the xdm init script
Actual Results:
lightdm starts, does not log in

Expected Results:
autologin user foo

This should be fixed in 1.0.6-r3
