celestia-1.3.1-kde.patch
here is a patch that should fix the kde side of things
i cant get it to work automake is the problem currently
i dont know enuf about kde or automake/conf so ill let someone that does
know what is going on to get it working right
this is just a diff between the 'working' tarball that was metioned in that
forum post and the orignal one (i submit it cause it saves someone downloading
12mb extra)
Is someone working on this? 1.3.1 offers some very important features that I
WANT BAD.
Me too. I'm very anxious to see 1.3.1 in portage. What are the issues with
1.3.1 that are delaying its release as an ebuild?
Jamis, I can only speak for myself... lack of time, currently. Would be nice if
you could assemble a ready-to-go ebuild for celestia-1.3.1 that just has to be
tested and checked in.

semi-working celestia 1.3.1 ebuld
Here is a simple ebuild that applies the patches previously supplied in this
thread, and installs celestia 1.3.1.
Patches should be placed under the [portage-dir]/celestia/files directory.
Please note that the kde patch fails to apply on my system, so I commented it
out.
Also, on an AMD64 system qt fails to identify itself properly, causing the
build to fail. My solution was to emerge with USE="-kde" (this was also an
issue with 1.3.0-r1, so I suspect it is a problem with automake's detection of
the qt libraries on 64-bit platforms).
In any event, it seems to work for "-kde -gnome" (x86 and amd64) and "-kde
gnome" (x86) builds, FWIW.
Patrick--I hope you didn't construe my question as criticism. I can completely
understand being busy, and that's no crime. I was curious as to whether there
were technical issues that were delaying its release as an ebuild.
And thanks for the ebuild, Jean-Michel. :)
Didn't have any problem bulding the KDE version (seems to work fine but crashes
on exit on my box) - the GTK patch applied fine and gives something that seems
to work on first glance.
Put into portage for ~x86.
