Please change the lispdir from 
/usr/share/emacs/gnus-cvs
to
/usr/share/emacs/gnus-cvs

because this is the stable release and not an developer version!

Sorry there is the worng path in the comment:
I meant:
/usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/gnus
(should be correct in the attachment)
