your assessment is pretty much completely off. Debian hasnt done a release since 20090709, so that means we're simply less than a month behind. further, "last Gentoo commit" is completely irrelevant. if there arent any bugs, then there's no point in making a commit. new version in the tree now (In reply to comment #1) > your assessment is pretty much completely off.
